Law Offices of Ronald J. Resmini, Accident & Injury Lawyers, Ltd. proudly served as the lead sponsor of the fifth annual Fraid Knots Kid’s Ride. The event took place on Monday, August 25, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Country Club Plat neighborhood of Barrington, Rhode Island. This annual community event brings families together to support pediatric cancer research through the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, one of the nation’s leading cancer research centers.

Supporting Pediatric Cancer Research in Rhode Island

The Fraid Knots Kid’s Ride represents more than just a fun community event. It shows a commitment to advancing pediatric cancer research and supporting families affected by childhood cancer. Each year, this event draws families from across Rhode Island who understand the critical importance of funding cancer research. Children ages 2 to 15 participate in the ride and learn the value of giving back. Their participation directly contributes to groundbreaking research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a leading center for cancer treatment and research.

Law Offices of Ronald J. Resmini, Accident & Injury Lawyers, Ltd.‘s sponsorship of this event reflects our firm’s core values: supporting families and strengthening our community. We understand how illness and injury impact not just individuals, but entire families. That’s why we support local causes that address serious health challenges and provide hope to families facing pediatric cancer. Our team’s commitment to Rhode Island families extends to every aspect of our practice.

The Fraid Knots Story: From Inspiration to Impact

The Fraid Knots team has an inspiring origin story rooted in courage and determination. In 2011, Charlie Ames received a brain tumor diagnosis at a young age. Rather than letting fear define his journey, Charlie drew strength from his favorite song, “Not Afraid” by Eminem. This song became the team’s anthem. Today, Charlie is cancer-free and attending college. His story shows the power of hope and the importance of continued cancer research.

What began as one family’s personal mission has grown into a powerful fundraising force. Over the past 13 years, Team Fraid Knots has raised more than $1.3 million for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. As part of the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) community, the team contributes to a larger movement. PMC has raised over $1 billion for cancer research over 44 years. In 2023 alone, PMC contributed $72 million to Dana-Farber. This year, Team Fraid Knots has set an ambitious goal of raising $250,000. Over $122,000 has already been raised as of early August. The Pan-Mass Challenge Kids Rides program has become a vital funding source for pediatric cancer research.

Fifth Annual Event Brings Community Together

The Fraid Knots Kid’s Ride creates a welcoming environment for children. Kids can participate in a fun, meaningful activity while learning about charitable giving. The event features a one-mile bike loop through the Country Club Plat neighborhood. Participants can complete the loop as many times as they wish. Whether children are just beginning to ride or are experienced cyclists, there’s a place for everyone.

Beyond the bike ride, the event offers a full day of activities for families. Carnival games, sports competitions, face-painting, and prizes keep children entertained throughout the evening. Participants receive food including hot dogs, burgers, sides, and drinks. The $40 registration fee per child includes all activities and food. This affordable entry point ensures that families of all backgrounds can participate in supporting this important cause. Events like this demonstrate the power of community involvement in making a real difference.

Addy Jay, a rising senior at Barrington High School, organized the event as her senior project. This demonstrates how young people in our community are stepping up to make a difference. For more information, families can contact the organizers at fraidknotskidsride@gmail.com.

Making a Difference for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

The funds raised through the Fraid Knots Kid’s Ride directly support pediatric cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. In 2024, PMC Kids Rides across the region raised over $420,000. This contributed to PMC’s $75 million gift to Dana-Farber that year. A key principle of the PMC Kids Rides program is important: 100% of every dollar raised by riders goes directly to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. No administrative fees or overhead costs reduce the impact of donations.

This commitment to research produces real results. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute conducts groundbreaking work in pediatric oncology. The institute develops new treatments and improves survival rates for children diagnosed with cancer. The research funded by events like the Fraid Knots Kid’s Ride contributes to clinical trials, innovative therapies, and comprehensive care programs. These programs give children and families hope.

By supporting the Fraid Knots Kid’s Ride, participants join a community of advocates committed to ending childhood cancer. Every mile ridden, every dollar raised, and every family that participates strengthens the fight against pediatric cancer. Together, we move closer to a future where all children can grow up healthy and cancer-free.
