Woman arrested on DUI charges connected to January wrong-way crash

PROVIDENCE, RI – One person was injured in a crash caused by a wrong-way driver on Route 146 late last month.

The wrong-way driver was 20-year-old Dulcelena Tavares who was traveling north in the southbound lanes of Route 146 just north of the Admiral Street exit, reports The Providence Journal. 

She sideswiped an oncoming vehicle and hit another vehicle on the highway, seriously damaging all three cars.

One person sustained minor injuries and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

Tavares was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and driving to endanger resulting in physical injury.
