Mass. state trooper killed in crash involving tanker truck

STONEHAM, MA – A Massachusetts State Police trooper died after a crash on I-93 late Thursday night.

According to WPRI, Tamar Bucci, 34, pulled over on I-93 in Stoneham to assist a disabled vehicle. The blue lights of her police car were left on.

A tanker truck carrying 10,000 gallons of gasoline crashed into the trooper’s vehicle, pinning the car to the cliff wall on the highway.

Bucci was pulled from her vehicle by two good Samaritans. Another police officer arrived on the scene and began performing life-support aid before EMS crews arrived.

She was transported to  Massachusetts General Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The driver in the vehicle Bucci initially stopped for sustained minor injuries. The truck driver was uninjured in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
