Cumberland woman killed in single-vehicle wreck in Smithfield

SMITHFIELD, RI – A woman was killed when she crashed her car in Smithfield on Sunday afternoon.

According to WPRI, the crash occurred at 3 p.m. when 55-year-old Kathleen Morrissey of Cumberland went off the road on Douglas Pike and crashed into a garage and a stone wall near the intersection of Douglas Pike and Cavalry Drive.

Responders declared Morrissey dead at the scene of the crash.

No other injuries are reported in the accident.

The cause of the crash remains unknown at the time of this writing.
